Estimate of uncertain cohesive suspended sediment deposition rate from uncertain floc size in Meghna estuary, Bangladesh

Suspended sediment in the Meghna estuary, Bangladesh, typically consists of fine to medium silt near water surface, silty sand at increasing depth, and sandy close bed. The behavior fine, cohesive a complex environment with multiple drivers, such as river tidal flows, is comparatively little understood because deposition erosion processes depend on many chemical, biological, physical factors. This article examines propagation uncertainty from input floc size output sedimentation rate using fine-sediment hydro-morphodynamic model that utilizes transport module Delft3D. We assume particles flocs are both single-sized throughout solution domain. effect statistics examined three sites interest located estuary novel numerical derived distribution approach. After deriving probability suspended sediment, we find coefficient variation range 20% 38% across locations. Planners therefore need consider substantial estimates for coastal zone especially given increased risk flooding deposition-prone areas they become shallower. methodology may be readily extended estimation land reclamation control planning studies.
